Why My Rock Career Ended at 4:30 AM

My Rock

The day started with a bold attempt at something new. At 4:00 AM, I decided to pick up an electric guitar, fully expecting to awaken my inner rock star. Spoiler alert: that didn’t happen. By 4:30 AM, it was painfully clear that my talents lay elsewhere. Instead of pursuing stardom, I gave the guitar to someone who might actually coax a tune from it. Guitar: 0 – Productivity: 1.

Back to What I Do Best

Once my brief flirtation with fame was over, I turned my focus back to a project that makes my heart sing: an Enetpulse data import. Organizing and processing cycling data might not sound glamorous, but for me, it’s the kind of problem-solving that feels like art. Today’s task? Building an API to streamline how this data is accessed and used. It’s not rock and roll, but it’s a symphony of logic and efficiency.

A Quick Trip to Maastricht

After a productive morning, I decided to step away from my screen and head to Maastricht for a little shopping. The goal? New clothes. The result? Absolutely nothing. Despite wandering through a few promising shops, I came home empty-handed. No big deal—sometimes the break itself is the reward.

Finding Balance in a Busy Day

Work wasn’t my only focus today. I also cooked, played with my ever-energetic cat Binky, checked on my servers, and cleared out my inbox. On top of that, I took a few moments throughout the day to message a close friend—my rock, my sounding board. These conversations give me energy and a fresh perspective, reminding me that there’s always someone to share things with, whether big or small.

Wrapping Up with Code

The day came to a close with more work on the API. Optimizing code, structuring data, and tying up loose ends—it’s satisfying to see everything come together. There’s still plenty to do, but that’s a story for tomorrow.

Final Thoughts

While my rock career may have ended before it started, today was a good reminder of where my real strengths lie. Creating systems, solving problems, and balancing it all with moments that bring joy—whether it’s a conversation, a playful cat, or just a quiet minute to reflect.

Tomorrow’s another day, with more challenges and, hopefully, fewer guitars.
